Genre, What a film type really contains

When I think "Genre" it gives me an idea of what I'm going to see, normally I don't even think deeper into the genre than, scary, chick flick or the shooting movies my dad watches. Never do I really think about the type of characters, settings or. "Looking at movies: Genre "The Western"" opened my eyes as to  how much detail goes into defining a genre. As for an overall theme western has to be civilization and the wilderness, this caused me to think to other genres and wonder if there is a common theme or conflict. My Favorite Movies, or rather series of movies is the "Fast and the Furious" which has the conflict of bad guys vs even badder guys, movies of this sort, a teenage action film, such as "Never back Down" hold true to this Bad guys vs even badder guys, as grammatically incorrect as it may be. As Western always has a conflict between civilization and wilderness, as does the "teenage action film" genre. Throughout the film these "bad boys" are causing crime but in the end bring out something good and beat the bad guy. As the western genre has the set of characters that go along with the common theme as does the teenage action film. There's always the good kid that could go either way and then the really buff guy who persuades the good kid to use evil to work against evil or violence with violence or fast cars with fast cars. When trying to compare other aspects of the western genre discussed in the film such as setting or distinct actors it allowed me to realise that these characteristics are true for the teenage action genre also. The setting is normally a dirty place where one would assume nothing good to come out of but it does. What was most surprising to me was that the looks of that actors are very similar, they might not have John Wayne in every film but their overall looks and characteristics are similar.
